Sir C. MacDonald to the Marquess of Salisbury-(Received July 11.)

During my five days' stay at Chefoo I had many opportunities of discussing with Sir Edward Seymour the details of the coming occupation of Wei-hai Wei, as also the Admiralty requirements at Kowloon, and we were able to come to a thorough under- standing on these points.
I left Chefoo on the morning of the 12th, reaching Peking on the 14th instant. During my absence Mr. Bax-Ironside acted as Chargé d'Affaires. I have, &e.
